Developmental Baby Toys 7-12 months

From 7 to 12 months your baby is in a stage of interactive learning. The right baby developmental toys will not only stimulate your child, but will also encourage and challenge him.

Baby developmental toys such as pop-up toys will help your child understand object permanence as well as help strengthen his sense of predictability. Your child will also be able to point out body parts and with the help of a stuffed animal he will begin to see that other people like mommy and daddy and teddy also have arms and legs and ears just like him.

Though he can play contently by himself, even with other kids around, he does understand certain things that require interaction with others including requests for help. Baby developmental toys such as replicas of household items and kitchen utensils help encourage cooperation and responsibility.

During the 7 to 12 months stretch, you child will be able to sit by himself for an extended period of time which will give him a different view of his world. He will also be able to crawl and pick up objects allowing him to participate more during play time.

Stacking and nesting toys as well as shape sorters will really draw your child's attention. For this reason, blocks are considered one of the best baby developmental toys because they grow with your child. The more he grows the more meaning and learning he can get from them such as the effects of gravity, the meaning of volume and space and they can even expand their vocabulary including the alphabet, colors, etc.

As he nears one year, he will have a longer attention span and will be capable of walking. The right baby developmental toys will provide active play and exercise his standing muscles. You can also encourage this simply by placing toys on a sturdy ledge just out of your baby's reach.
